Addiction to alcohol or drugs has unique effects on women — on their physical health, emotional health, and their relationships with others. In addition, addicted women find it difficult to get help because they do not have the time, money or child care services they need to enter treatment.

Positive Options for Women Entering Recovery (P.O.W.E.R.) is an intensive outpatient program for women who want help recovering from alcohol and drug dependence. P.O.W.E.R. offers treatment which is tailored to the unique needs of women. Scheduling, child care, and financial assistance help overcome the barriers women face in obtaining treatment for chemical dependency.

The P.O.W.E.R. program consists of educational sessions, group therapy, and weekly family involvement. Child care is located at CAPS, 1000 West Hively Avenue, beside Oaklawn.
